In the Audience

Quietly sitting back

Patiently waiting.

I can wait, it's no big deal, no effort,

and not a waste of time.

I will no longer cry injustice and terrible

cruelty,

for that fact is well known.

Now I will watch, now I will listen,

and now all I have to do is wait for the hush

as the curtain rises.

For when the show starts

I want to be in the audience and

not on the stage.

I want to applaud at the right moments,

and as in rowdier days send my hisses

and boo's to the villains getting their just rewards.

The admission will be free.

The show well worth the wait.

The critics will have a heyday.

And yes I can wait, wait on that day.
